What Motivates You?

Ever find it hard to get up in the morning to face your workday? Ever play hooky just because you are the boss and no one will challenge you about it?

As entrepreneurs, most of us are self-starters. That is to say, we are internally motivated by some force that pushes us forward even though we often do not want to go. So, what is it that motivates us so effectively (even when we are sick or just plain exhausted)?

For some of us it is the love of money, power or control. For others it is the sense of duty or responsibility. Still others simply have a genuine love for the activities required to be the boss.

As leaders, bosses, entrepreneurs, we have a choice to make every morning and throughout the day. Will we reach inside of our own hearts and minds to capture and hold out our vision for the folks around us to see, or will we give in to our own desire for satisfaction and security and simply act as we please?

GROWING FORWARD:

·       Think about what things are driving you right now

·       Make a list

·       Sort your list into what is healthy and what is destructive

·       Build your life and company on the healthy parts and watch your employees become your biggest fans as you move into the victory lane together

“People who are unable to motivate themselves must be content with mediocrity, no matter how impressive their other talents.”

-Andrew Carnegie
